Ah...

As an editor for a standardized test publishing company in the US, I can assure you the student would not have received any credit for the obvious observation.

So I should hope. But I remember a question in an Oxford scholarship entrance examination that went 'How would you know that you were at the South pole?' I put 'A gyroscope would not precess' which was probably right, but the answer which (I was told) would have got max marks was 'I'd look for the beer cans'.
