Folks, I've just produced new maps of the Broads for AR fans. In format, they match the earlier maps of The Lake, Wild Cat Island, and Secret Water shown on the TARS website at the link below.

I'd greatly appreciate any comments about the maps that you might care to make before they're updated and uploaded to the TARS site.

Because of the shape and comparatively large area of the terrain covered, together with the amount of detail (a good deal of it AR-related information from Coot Club and The Big Six,) if you want to download and print the maps you should be prepared to use A3 sheets to print them on (or tile two A4s together) if you're not to experience difficulty in reading them.

Also because of the total area to be covered, I've presently split the area into two maps as AR himself sensibly did, overlapping them at Breydon Water. But for real aficionados I'm considering later producing one overall map of the entire area, to be available as almost-square coverage on an A2 sheet. (This is still for the future though.)

I should also add that because of the amount of activity in The Big Six centred on Horning, the northern map contains an inset of the Horning waters at a larger scale.

Dave Thewlis has very kindly made space available on his website for the two draft maps, the links for them being --

Please throw up as much criticism as you like -- I want to have the final versions as useful as possible to all AR fans. As with the earlier maps I'll take all comments into account.

Mike
