Thanks for your comments, good people. I'm now in the process of updating the maps in light of them, and when I've finished I'll re-post them and let you know. But in the meanwhile it's not too late to make some more. Adam -- I hope the two boatsheds I'm now showing (in the inset) will be adequate to indicate the general location. Owen -- your point about the railway lines is well taken and I'm adding some to the maps. However, as with the roads, I'm only showing them where they were (or might necessarily have had to have been) used by the children, or else where rail bridges were visible from the water as they traversed them. Terence -- you'll find the Roaring Donkey where it always was, at the end of its dyke on the right bank of the Thurne a short distance downstream from Kendal Dyke. (By the way, the uploaded maps are reasonably large. I suspect that your browser has downsized them to fit your screen. You might like to try clicking on them or otherwise arranging to have them shown at full size, when -- although you'll have to scroll -- the details should be quite legible.) Peter -- in the books AR does indeed name Ranworth and Malthouse Broads, but he reverses the names (although no-one seems to be quite sure why.) If you look very closely at the small print below the Scale you'll see a note to that effect.
