That's a great link you posted, Owen. Many thanks indeed for it. Apart from the photos (it's good to be able to see these things from 10,000 miles away,) the various historical maps that are linked to there should make recreating the 1930s layout of the Bure Mouth area a good deal less difficult than I'd feared.

You're quite right, there's a fine line between having sufficient information on a map to make it useful, and having unnecesary information that only succeeds in making it more difficult to read. In the case of these maps I'm trying to show everything mentioned in AR's Broads stories (from which I exclude We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea,) together with other general 'necessary and sufficient' detail to make them contextually comprehensible.

By the way, for others like me who'd like to see details of this region but are too far away to visit it, I also recommend the ShoreBase site that I mentioned here a couple of months ago. It too has links to land and air photos that bring the area to life. Click on the header map in the link to bring up a series of detailed maps each containing photo links.
