I have found one reference (may be others, yet undiscovered) that referred to the FRESH WHITE PAINT job on Swallow.

The account is in PETER DUCK, immediately after the wind storm with the observation that the blown grains of sand had effected sandblasted off the FRESH WHITE PAINT from the side of Swallow.

Of course, this is all a made up story, but at least those authors gave it a color.

Always wondered how they got Mr. Jackson to let them take his boat across the sea, and then bring it back with a bullet hole in it. Of course, being "made up" they did not need his permission as the boat was always there at Holly Howe where Mr. Jackson would want it to be.

Following that same logical question, it shows that the MISSEE LEE adventure was also "made up", again, because they had SWALLOW with them half way around the world, which Mr. Jackson would not like.
