Rob, as I read it, the three Swallows moored to a landing stage on a small island in the lake. There was a notice which said 'Private. Landing Forbidden.' That meant that the island was owned by someone. This is nothing to do with foreshore rights or the 'right to roam' over large tracts of open land which is a 'political' topic in the UK at present, and as far as I can see has nothing whatever to do with Arthur Ransome, unless I've missed something.
Sorry to be a bit fussy over this, but I have been hauled up in the recent past for off-topic inappropriate posts, and I feel that the TarBoard Rules really ought to apply to everyone.
