In the 1930 Australia was part of the Empire, I am not sure what status an Australian would have at that time, possibly thought of as British?
Certainly I would think immigration was a not a hot topic in those days.
Of course was she born there or just lived there? Did she meet Commnder Walker there (or whatever his rank was at the time).
As AR did not think it was a concern of his young readers, we will never know.
Peter is of course right we all are descended from immigrants, England was one of the great melting pots.
Immigration now is a fact of life, and going to grow.
The Have-Nots are anxious to enjoy some of what the Haves enjoy.
However this is somewhat of topic so will shut up in case I get my knuckles rapped.
Off now the sail my refurbished Wild Cat.
