This is the fun part (at least it should be) of the internet, we can assume an identity of our own choosing -- sort of like the Swallows and Amazons did, relating to their boats instead of calling themselves the "Walkers and the Blacketts". And how many books would Mr. Ransome sold if that had been the title?

I think you'd better read S&A again Eric. When the S&A's met for the first time neither of them assumed names, both parties introduced themselves fully; eg; John; "My name is John Walker, master of the ship Swallow. This is Susan Walker, mate of the Swallow. This is Roger, ship's boy. Who are you?" Nancy; "I am Nancy Blackett, master and part owner of the Amazon, the terror of the seas. This is Peggy Blackett, mate and part owner of the same."

And that was fiction, I'm referring to manners. I for one will not correspond with a coward who hides behind an assumed name, it gives the impression he/she has something to hide, which has no place on this Board!
