In thinking about the concept of "galumphing" I had remembered in SA their return from the charcoal burners' camp, but could not remember any other times AR used this word.
So I did a SCAN and came up with two other places where the "Galumph" is used:
---------- SDCH23.TXT
Titty came galumphing down. "'Follow the way they point,' it
---------- SDCH29.TXT
have made the able-seaman galumph, if only the fog had not been
The CH23 reference is when the Swallows are following Nancy's instructions as to what trail to follow on their way to the Amazon River and the Rowboat.
The CH29 reference is while Titty and Roger are lost in the fog on their attempted trek back home.
This verb is listed in Webster's Dictionary, so I suppose that makes it official.
I have never heard of it anywhere else. So we learn as we persue our love for All Things Ransome.
