sensitivities of which I wasn't aware

A thoughtful post, Peter, and I am grateful. I am in the difficult position of seeing clearly the views of both TARS and TarBoard in this affair. I have to avoid irritating or offending people in either organisation, and so far I have failed in this. There certainly are sensitivities (as you see from TarBoard today) and these are deep and long-term.

TarBoard is 'a generous, valuable service'. I agree - no one is saying it isn't. The TARS attitude is not an attack on TarBoard. They merely do not wish to link directly to a discussion forum over which they have no control whatever. That policy may strike some as being excessively risk-averse, but that is what they have decided and they are entitled to do so.

I suggest the best thing is for TarBoard to 'brush past' this matter and carry on our discussions on AR. It's not that important anyway.

(Ian - I have reviewed the above text, before posting, with the utmost care. If any of it is against the rules, then I'm sorry, but I've done my best. You say that you don't care one way or another about the TarBoard link - that seems to me a very sensible attitude. Is it possible that you and I could achieve some sort of mutual understanding about postings? If we ever met, we might even get on with each other!)
