London is a good "possible" for the home of the D's. Prof. Callum could have worked at The Petrie Museum which is a London university museum. It was set up as a teaching resource for the Department of Egyptian Archaeology and Philology at University College London (UCL). Both the department and the museum were created in 1892.
AR would have known the area well from his times in Bloomsbury. However, I am yet to locate a 1930's skating rink near the university.
