Visit to Bede's World and Souter Lighthouse - Saturday 27 March.

The next TARS event being organised in the Northern Region takes us back in history to Bede's Word at Jarrow and to Souter Lighthouse, at Whitburn north of Sunderland. There is a 10% price reduction for the group booking at Bede's World, and Souter Lighthouse is being opened out of season especially for TARS.

FREE ENTRY to both sites for JUNIOR TARS (refund on the day).

Bede's World recreates life as it might have been 1300 years ago and includes a working recreation of an Anglo-Saxon farm, with replica buildings, workshops, rare breeds, ancient crop strains, and demonstrations. All this, together with a new museum, Monastic site, Jarrow Hall, shop and restaurant - and fortified against those elusive marauding Picts (but not Great Aunts)!

Souter Lighthouse, which was built in 1871, has the classic appearance of red and white stripes, and a claim to fame as the first lighthouse powered by alternating electric current.

Any TAR wishing to take part should contact Paul Flint at "Moorstones", Ruebury Lane, Osmotherley, North Yorkshire. DL6 3BG or e-mail flint@rmplc.co.uk. Joining instructions can be obtained from Paul by sending a stamp-addressed envelope; or, minus leaflets, by e-mail. Contact Paul by 13 March.

All TARS are very welcome.
