The meaning of Bimeby

I have just been re-reading Missee Lee, and am still confused as to the meaning of the word Bimeby, as in
"Talkee English Bimeby!"(Their "captain"). At first I thought it was the captains bad English, but then Misse Lee,
who "knows more English" than Captain Flint, uses it herself, so it obviously has some meaning. Can anyone
shed any light on this? and how is it pronounced?
