Ed--your first reference to the word "cricket" is a different usage. It doesn't apply to the game of cricket, but means "okay" or "on the up-and-up".

About cricket being the major sport in summer, it would be similar to our American school sports seasons--frequently the biggest fall term sport is football or soccer, in winter term basketball is most popular, and in spring term baseball and/or track and field. Since most of our schools don't have a summer term at all, we don't have a single most popular summer sport.

Thanks for all the searching you do to help us all understand more about the complexity of our favorite books!
