What a shame! I spent a good part of a day in June 1958 exploring the Cutty Sark. I remember that she had a wonderful gallery of historical figure heads that I took pictures of, as well as the rest of the ship. Unfortunatly, that was the one roll of film I lost, so all I have are memory pictures. The Cutty Sark was the highlight of my London experience!

I am sure that she will be restored, but at what co$t! Our collective history is such a fragile thing and actual objects like the Cutty Sark bring history alive for the betterment of all.

If this was a deliberate act of vandelism, I hate to imagine the types that would do such a thing. It reenforces my premise that people need things to spark a positive interest in life, like Mr. Ransome's adventures.
