The Cutty Sark has been closed since last August for restoration. Fortunately the masts, bowsprit, figurehead, wheel, many deck fittings, lifeboats and some of the deck had been removed to Chatham dockyard for separate preservation.
The was film on the BBC of the ship on fire. It looked very much like the pictures one saw of the French ships on fire after a battle with the British Navy.
The hull interior looks gutted. Those who know say it can be restored. i hope that their confidence is not misplaced. In the interim one will have to visit the Pommern over in Mariehamn.
