There is no original wood or ironwork left in the PIONEER, but she is definitely the same boat, because she is built in the same way by the same methods out of the same materials to the same dimensions.

Personally, I have no doubt; I played on the wreck when I was a boy, but I am very much happier when I see her sailing.

As a rebuilt vessel, one that is very slightly older than the CUTTY SARK, but equally the only one of her type, she has allowed people to re-discover how the Colchester "first class" smacks were sailed and fished.

I'd rather see the Cutty Sark doing that, without any original structure. How fast were the clipper ships, actually? Nobody really knows. We could find out..
