There is no original wood or ironwork left in the PIONEER, but she is definitely the same boat, because she is built in the same way by the same methods out of the same materials to the same dimensions.

Under this definition, Andrew, my blue diesel Jetta wagon is the same car as the blue diesel Jetta wagon I passed on my way home today. While my quantum mechanics professor may have a different perspective, you will have a hard time convincing me of that! Certainly, the building of the new boat – a noble cause! - has preserved the design and allowed those lucky enough to sail her the opportunity to experience what our forebearers did. But it’s not the same boat – it’s a replica. And what’s wrong with that? (And yes, I much prefer the second photo to the first.)
