I'm actually not that much of a duffer--I have rowed properly, with feathered oars which come fairly easily when I think hard about feathering. I am still prone to catching crabs, splashing or digging too deep if a new bird shows up! I think I learned more about how to feather oars & row "Navy-style" (or something like it) from trips in Canadian canoes. They really slip along nicely if you use the oars properly!

However, my time in boats of any sort is still measured in days--occasional--not years, so I am sure Alex will be able to teach me plenty this summer :-)
