Having spent a little time prowling round the Children's departments of antipodean bookshops lately, I don't think you need exclude their customers from your competition.
None of the ones I tried had any AR, but there were blocks of Goosebumps occupying whole shelves at a time. Also a lot of stuff by Paul Jennings, who I can't believe is the same as the British humourist of some years ago.
