Contrary to what Jock implies, I do not trawl through TarBoard in an attempt to 'police' the posts for AR relevance. It is generally accepted that we wander off-course now and then, and I have frequently done so myself. However, I do reserve the right to put up a mild protest after the 40th posting appears concerning the exact type of stopcock manifold fitted under the hand-basin in the bathroom of that house.

BTW I cannot find a reference to AR's statement that a tree is as good as a book to a boy. It seems a surprising thing for AR to say, as he makes it clear in his Autobiography that as a boy he worshipped books. However, it is perfectly possible that he said that - I too would like to know where, if anyone knows.
