That's because it is close to the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, Pam. Combine that with the high latitude and you get very long days in summer. I was amazed when I visited in 2000 to be out walking at dusk at 11.00pm.
I'll have a wee dram tonight to celebrate the winter solstice here, as it can only get better from now on!
