I think the question is at what age would you start a "child" reading Ransome vs. ___. The latter is an adult book, which can appeal to more mature children, while Ransome's are ageless, witness the range of participants. Judging from some of the other discussions that have appeared here, Ransome can, and does, appeal to any age beyond babbling. How many parents would allow their offspring to read .-.. --- - ..-. (sorry, reached my limits for circumlocution) before their later teens ("young adult" in educatorese)?
