That's my feeling too- that Susan is always the supporting character. My favorite 'Susan moment' is after the shipwreck in SD. Despite the crisis, she gets a fire built, tea made and everyone into their bathing suits so their clothes can dry, and does it without a fuss.

I think that the only way Susan could ever have a real adventure is to be on her own, with no one to look after. She herself may not want that, as she constantly takes on responsibility.
