I have a much less musical but much more convincing CD of sea shanties recorded in the 1950s from the genuine article who all evidently at the point of falling out of (or being thrown out of) the pub.
We've a copy of Sea Songs & Shanties: Traditional Music from the Last Days of Sail.
It's grand - I've linked the USA Amazon site entry below as the UK one doesn't have the interesting range of buyers comments:-
