I've always thought (and I think I said it here when the subject was discussed once before) that to qualify for being called 'Miss So-and-so' or 'Master So-and-So' (where So-and-So represents their first name) by local farmers, postmen etc, a young person must be (a) perceived as from an at least slightly superior social group, (b) fairly well-known to the speaker. I don't think it's a matter of people getting fed up of tourists, but more a matter of getting into the habit of thinking of them by their names and not just as 'one of that Mrs Walker's children'.
