I take your point, but the passages in BRSW were referring to very sleazy environments which the Secret Police were seen to frequent, involving prostitutes and the casual acceptance of violent death. Harry Potter had much violent death too, but in a completely fantastic world, not everyday revolutionary Russia. HP had almost no sexual episodes/activity at all.
These BRSW episodes seemed to me to be out of character with the general tone of the book.
