It is not widely known that messages placed on certain electronic message-board can leak across the ether and be read by those who have passed to the ‘other side’. I recently received the following communication via methods and sources I have pledged not to reveal.
“Miss Turner, late of Beckfoot and Harrogate wishes it to be known that she finds certain comments, recently placed on Tarboard both offensive and highly impertinent. I have been asked to point out on her behalf that she has not interest in what these purveyors of tittle-tattle and idle gossip call ‘class’ or ‘status’. Miss Turner is conscious that she had the good fortune to have been brought up to observe the highest standards of behaviour and considered it her duty to attempt to pass on these standards of conduct to the younger generations of her family. Although Miss Turner appreciates that the young people may not have thanked her for her guidance at the time, she is confident that, on maturity, her nieces will appreciate the importance of impeccable conduct for young ladies who wish to retain the respect due to their position in society.”
