I copied the following into my note book this morning [Nancy overheard her mother and Mrs W say]
"something about the way children used to be brought up and how much better it was now that children could be the friends of their elders instead of their terrified subjects"
Nancy interuppted to say "it's lucky we are bringing ourselves up instead of being brought up by the G.A."
I wonder if she included her mother and uncle in the "we"
