I think it was Jim Brading not Jim Clay. Jim Clay may have been the person upon whom Brading was based.
The point about John not being a Rugbeian for the reason you mention has been made before about 2 years ago, when we were discussing possible schools. Although I don't think the logic quite rightly being extended to Dick was considered.
AR was a Rugbeian and we also mentioned the starting age for this public school which may have been either 11 or 13.
