Also, could it be that other users of Swallow were primarily adults or adults with children. Could it be that children at that time were, for the most part, like children anywhere, mostly be needing adult supervision; SO, possibly it would have been unlikely that a group of children would be using Swallow unsupervised by adults - hence, if the Amazons saw the Swallow with adults and sometimes children, it would have made no impression - just another boat among many, especially since these other groups most likely would not have been camping on Wild Cat Island. AND after meeting the "Swallows", if they had seen the Swallow with other people on board, they would know it was a hire boat and others would naturally be using it, and what Claire says above would possibly be correct.

If we are going to surmise other things, we can add this bit of conjecture to our unsubstantiated wild guesses - more fun in Ransomeland!

Eric Abraham - who actually saw sailboats (plural) last week on Wilson Lake!
