Although I am not Fiona, I do have copies of both versions Mike. The new paperback contains more maps and photographs with amendments to previous information where further facts have emerged in the last 20+ years.
However the main structure and thrust of the content remains the same, which must be a tribute to the original research.
I find the original hardback, as a book, more satisfying as it is a Cape book published at 30 Bedford Square in the style that was used for AR books. The modern replacement is a typical well produced paperback.
I think it is just worth repuchasing. However I have not discarded the older version.
