Well the Villa Caprice was 'much' more upmarket, hence the indoor plumbing.
I like the part where Foster tried out the plumbing - 'The chain by which he'd recently released the uproar was attached to a large tank high above the thronelike fixture, which stood nobly upon it's own grey marble slab.'
