While agreeing with earlier comments anent "warm" British and mercifully chilled North American varieties, a further point can be made. An ice-cold beer (even an American one) is often welcome on a sweltering hot day. Such weather is hardly encountered often enough in the UK to make it worth while.... Maybe with global warming we will see a change in UK drinking habits?
