As I said in a previous post, our proper butcher used to wrap his meat in a sort of white greaseproof wrapper, then again in brown paper.
What they used to use in the thirties I have no idea, maybe newspaper like fish and chips.
I thought there was a trend in the UK back to proper butchers selling organic meats.
As to rabbit it would not hurt to have hung for a couple of days if the innards had been removed.
