Thinking about the changes in "every-day" technology since AR's
writing period, I am wondering if any small-boat sailors would like
to comment on the use today of a hand-held GPS receiver to achieve
the night-time navigation down the Lake that was performed by
the crews of the Amazon and the Swallow in S&A?
Could this journey at night be made safely, or would it be thought
just as foolhardy now as it was then?
I must add that I have no intention myself of attempting this!
