well spotted, yes I did mean Ulverston. Thinking of the lake I suppose. I had wondered if it was possible to change at Plumpton Junction for the Greenodd/Lakeside service (as e.g. at Dovey/Dyfi Junction), but my 1898 timetable in the C R Davey book doesn't mention any trains stopping there!
Also, subsequent to posting I looked at the map, and Grange is about the same distance from Cartmel as Cark Station, so I think AR would have used Grange on these holiday journeys.
