Perhaps my views are coloured by having seen TV interviews with him and knowing something about his private life.
You are doled out facts that he wants you to know. The same applies to his books, in my view. You get well researched naval history obviously inseted into an average story.
However many enjoy his books.
This is probably getting too far away from AR and I will not post any more on this topic.
