There was a book written about the psychology of long-distance solo voyagers. What drives them to do it? How do they cope with the solitude, when humans are such gregarious animals? What delusions do they suffer? Oh, yes there's a whole rich field of problems to be answered here. It taks an extraordinarily stable personality to cope with the demands of solo sailing without cracking up.
