When they find the box in the cairn in SA, it is dated 1901, when Molly, Jim & Bob Blackett were at the top of 'The Matterhorn'.

In PP, they hear the blast of a coach horn from Colonel Jolys’ firefighters, “the old blast on four notes that used to echo up and down these valleys thirty years ago, before the motors brought the coaches to an end” The GA & the Ds hear it too in PM; the GA says “there are no coaches now as there used to be”.

Re Rattletrap, when CF drives up to the camp under threat from fire in PP, he changes up to second and third (the Trojan had a two-speed box; like the Model T Ford which was billed as ‘three speed’ – including reverse!)
