I am in possession of a letter written by Ransome in October 1942. The letter goes:

Quite simple. Look at the title page of "Missee Lee" and you will see from a note there that it is a story like "Peter Duck". There are two or three more like that, which I have not yet written..... one of them also about the Wildcat in the Baltic, of course before she was sunk in the China Seas. I'll write it some day if I have time. No new one this year, but there are ten already... almost enough, don't you think?

good luck to you,

Arthur Ransome

Ransome thus states ML is a story like PD. Of course we know that AR did not write another book like PD and ML featuring the Wild Cat in the Baltic. I must admit that for me GN seems quite real and feasible and does not really compare to PD and ML. The Sea Bear was not a schooner like the Wild Cat but she was a Pilot Cutter of Scandinavian origin.
