The North geographic pole goes through floating arctic ice cap, so its a bit hard to actually plant a flag and have it stay there for more than a few hours.
The Russians have put in a claim to the undersea rights and planted a flag which probably won't move where the North pole goes through the sea bottom on the grounds that it is part of their continental shelf. However, this claim is contested by both the Canadians who think it is an extension from the Arctic archipelago and the Danes from the north Greenland coast.
