Stranger things have happened. Look at "Springtime for Hitlar" in The Producers. And who would ever have guessed that Oliver Twist would become a hit musical? My point is that really gifted librettists can make a success of the most unlikely material. Titty could sing a soulful ballad, Nancy would sing a stirring pirate song, etc. etc. I hasten to add, that this doesn't mean that I would approve of S & A as a musical But imagination is a wonderful thing, is it not?
