Roland gave a talk about it at the TARS Literary Weekend last September. TARS can see a picture of him there with Marcus Sedgwick on the cover of the latest Signals. The actual book has yet to go to press, but it is well advanced.
I have noticed that Amazon announce paperbacks long before they are due in the shops. Perhaps the date you saw was an estimate of a year or so after the originally planned hardback publication.
