I always assumed they brought exactly what the telegram told them to, and cheerfully lugged it through the train station(s), bumping into people and apologizing like crazy! Mrs. Blackett may have offered up faintly the opinion that it would be difficult to manage all their belongings, but I am sure Nancy could have shot down all objections in no time at all. Also, they probably only took the clothing on their backs & one set of spares plus a bathing suit and toothbrush and comb. One small knapsack each for those items. A sturdy kit bag for the tent and one other parcel for boots and oilies. Quite manageable, and all part of the adventure :-)
