I own a copy of Fowler. My Fowler dates from the 1950's and belonged, probably still does, to my Uncle Michael. Michael attended Sydney University to read medicine. The stories about my uncle are legends in his own lifetime.
I love reading Fowler, but it does not address how to write in the same fashion as Strunk. I had an argument once, with a US History person, as to whether the Chicago Style Manual or Fowler was more seminal. The argument raged for weeks, until I pointed out that the six recommended books in the back of the Style Manual had Fowler, the original, first. It was QED as far as I was concerned.
