My Fowler dates from the 1950's and belonged, probably still does, to my Uncle Michael.

I wonder about this point. If my Grandfather Clarence gave money to Uncle Michael for his textbooks. If Uncle Michael bought Fowler and wrote his name in the front. If Uncle Michael left the book at my grandparent's place for many years, after he graduated from University. If I borrowed the book from my grandparent's library, then who owns the book?

Does the writing of the name ensure that ownership at one stage is proven?
