Is there some confusion here between Ivy Ransome (AR's first
wife) and Edith Ransome (his mother)? Certainly when Edith
was living at Box Tree Cottage in Kemsing she was visited by
AR and by Evgenia, particularly when they first arrived in England
from the Baltics and had nowhere to live (see the letters by AR
from Kemsing in Signalling from Mars edited by Hugh Brogan).
