I agree with Duncan that it might help to know the specific incident. In my limited experience AR got everything pretty well right. More importantly, Hugh Brogan wrote in his Life of AR that in the Autobiography "the handling of incident and individuals is masterly". However, no one is 100% accurate, even in (or especially in) an autobiography.
