That enigmatic book Secret Water is always guaranteed to start an argument (and nowt wrong with that). I too treasure the overall atmosphere of the story. Without over-long descriptive passages AR makes you feel you know every inch of that flat terrain, and you feel the mystery of it. It's the action I have problems with. At this point I turn to Christina Hardyment, who says:-
